Suggested Tasks & Assessments
· Students are shown a picture (or you can draw a picture) of a sick child in bed. Ask students, “How can you tell this boy/girl is sick.” Explain how these are used to fight illness (water, tissue, and thermometer). Students tell how they feel when they are sick--symptoms (sore throat, stuffed up nose, ear ache, head ache, stomach ache, shivers)
· Use a spray bottle with water in it to demonstrate how a sneeze or cough spreads germs like the spray bottle spreads droplets of water. Show students a picture of a child/adult washing their hands to prevent the spread of germs. Ask students, “What are some other ways to prevent the spread of germs.”
· Students create a foldable booklet listing various ways germs are spread (touch, sneeze/cough, and sharing food/utensils). They list ways to prevent germs from being spread
· Describe situations (real or imaginary) to students. Students take turns and role-playing how they would resolve the conflict using I Messages.
